many years ago I read that "when u truly love someone, set him or her free!"
i didnt understand tat then.. why should i let u go when i love someone truly. i should keep her close to me.. cling to her.. keep her close to me forever!
but after i practice Buddhism, i begin to understand the phrase of letting yr love ones go.. too many people hold on to their love ones till they felt suffocated.. and everyone suffers..
in fact true love will fly back to u on their own accord even u let them go. That's the universal truth! when u give ppl the choice and let them grow.. love grows and u will be rewarded. but he or she really didnt come back, it just shows that u are not meant for one another..
So, if u love someone, let him or her go.. help him or her grow and fly.. if he or she flies back, good for u. Otherwise, just be happy tat everyone's free and given the freedom of choice.

something about teach and lead
"If you teach, they will not be taught.
If you lead, they will not be led.
So, teach without teaching.
And lead without leading.
That's the ultimate challenge
of a true master teacher & leader!"
- Kenneth Woo, 2007.

These words of wisdom is even more relevant with today's great reliance on human capital assets for business sustainability and competitive advantage. Smart people dont like to be taught and led.. or at least they dont like to be seen that way.. but there're strategies to manage smart people. Use the above quote to trigger your thinking & reflective mind.. i'm still learning too.. Also, knowing is one thing.. to internalise it into yr DNA is another. ;-)

Future means.. Present ends..
this morning i nearly fell off my MRT seat while reading an article.. not because of earthquake, not because someone press the emergency button,.. but because of what i just read..
The article paraphrased Fritz Roethlisberger, a pioneer in human relations and organisational behaviour:
The article paraphrased Fritz Roethlisberger, a pioneer in human relations and organisational behaviour:
"Most people think of what
they're doing in the present as the means and
the resultant future as the end.
In fact, the future is the means and
the present is the end."
I've never think in this way.. really penny for my thoughts.. Mmm.. will need some time to digest.. ;-)

Do not depend on past experience alone..

It is dangerous to assume that experience is the only source of ideas & inputs for a person to make decisions. In order to make optimal decisions, one should engage the wealth of tools, ideas & inputs from all sources available. However, do not go the extreme and attempt to seek all sources that handicap you to make any decision. Stay balanced. Time constraint is usually a key factor for u to set a deadline to make a decision.
That's why wise people know that wisdom comprises
knowledge & experience. And knowledge is gained thru reading & learning from others. You dont have to burn your own hands to know that fire hurts.. Therefore, it also requires the power of imagination. Imagination helps you to imagine plausible scenarios and how u would behave to solve problems. All these require effort, patience and perservance. But it's all worth it!
A wise Buddhist reminded me that man shall walk on compassion and wisdom.. missing one, one would fall..
