Ants and Cinnamon

Ants don't like anything spicy, so cinnamon, black pepper, chili powder or Cayenne Pepper will do the trick. Also they don't like the smell of mint, so if you plant mint around the house the smell will keep them away.
I was told to use used coffee grounds (after you made a pot of coffee) and pour on the mounds. It works for me. I have never had to go buy anything else. The ants eventually move to a new spot. I just pour more coffee grounds on the new spot. But it does work.... See More

The nice thing about all of these solutions is that they are earth friendly so you won't be spraying pesticides everywhere. Also the grass will LOVE your coffee grounds. The acidity in them makes for good natural fertilizer.
