4 As - Awareness, Acknowledgement, Accountability & Action

This morning, i saw a grandma pushing a baby cart dashing through the traffic light. i was angry with her for risking her life running across the road. I was more angry that a baby was under her care! Then my wife asked me to calm down and that my life will be shortened with i get angry everytime.. coz in this world there're too many letdown to be angry of..

Well, that's true.. Then i focus on developing a simple mind tool to remind myself not to end up like that grandma..

The answer is 4 As! Stands for Awareness, Acknowledgement, Accountability and Action. Let me explain.

1. Awareness. We all must first be aware of the subject matter. In the case of crossing the road recklessly, we must be aware of the danger and probability of being hit by a car. And the fact that being old, our reflects will be slower to react in the face of a speeding car.

2. Acknowledge. Being aware is insufficient. Many people are aware that smoking kills. But they just dont acknowledge that it may or will hit them one day. So one must acknowledge and admit that it, too, may happen to them. Most people dont get pass this acknowledgement stage.

3. Accountability. Having acknowledge it, you will also realise that you are accountable for your actions. And that your actions has an impact on others as well.

4. Action. The last stage will be to take action to change and eliminate or at least mitigate the risk. Talking and thinking about it is useless. Action speaks louder than words. Always start small and gradually it will take effect over a period of time. And dont give up too easily.
